University Chapters
UNITE University chapters offer pre-service teachers the chance to experience urban classrooms and students across the nation. Every year UNITE chapters take clinical experience trips to underprivileged schools and communities in America’s largest cities. Members of UNITE not only observe these schools, but also interact with students, teachers, administrators, and community leaders gaining valuable experience and insight with schools that are in the highest need of quality teachers.
“UNITE offers a unique opportunity to learn in a way I learn best- through action! The fact that I get to work one on one with students is especially beneficial to me. I was even able to sit in on a special education meeting, which is a staple to my career.”
-Katelin Johnson, UNITE at ISU member
UNITE university chapters strive to prepare college students to be effective and engaging classroom teachers in urban settings. With UNITE’s guidance and support, members will begin their first day of teaching with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure their students’ success.
